T-Shirt Fabric Guide

The t-shirt itself is one of the most misunderstood yet crucial aspects to consider when looking for custom t-shirts or buying custom-designed apparel. You may say that this is obvious.

However, in reality, people are surprised that picking up the right model and material is not that simple. There are many factors involved in choosing the right t-shirt like price, color, cutting, etc. But, we must say that the most confusing component of all is the t-shirt fabric.

As a result, we’ve put together this guide to explain what t-shirt materials are, how they differ, and why you must pick one over another.

1. Cotton

Cotton is widely popular because it is inexpensive, breathable, and absorbent. However, despite being one of the most well-known t-shirt materials, it is also the most complicated in terms of variation. The most common forms of cotton material you’ll come across in the market are carded open-end, ring-spun cotton, and combed-cotton.

2. Polyester

Polyester is a man-made fabric coming from plastic fibers. These fibers will then be spun together before being cooked and stretched, resulting in soft, flexible fibers similar to the natural fibers.

3. Rayon

Rayon, also known as a semi-synthetic fiber, is created from refined cellulose obtained from timber or bamboo pulp. That cellulose will then be woven into rayon fabric.
